The actor didn’t address the Jon Snow sequel series in development, but he did talk about how the ending of Game of Thrones left his character.
Kit Harington did everything fans wanted him to do during his panel at the official Game of Thrones Convention Sunday night, just not the thing they really wished he would do, which was comment on the Jon Snow sequel series in development.
Harington remained mum on the subject. Moderators Jason Concepcion and Greta Johnsen didn’t broach the topic. Neither did the fans who lined up to ask questions during a Q&A. But the one thing Harington did talk about was where the ending of Game of Thrones left his character.
He began speaking about how the drama ended in 2019, with Jon killing Daenerys and being banished to live out his days on the Wall in the North. “I think if you asked him, he would’ve felt he got off lightly,” the actor said. “At the end of the show when we find him in that cell, he’s preparing to be beheaded and he wants to be. He’s done. The fact he goes to the Wall is the greatest gift and also the greatest curse.
“He’s gotta go back up to the place with all this history and live out his life thinking about how he killed Dany, and live out his life thinking about Ygritte [played by Rose Leslie] dying in his arms, and live out his life thinking about how he hung Olly [Brenock O’Connor], and live out his life thinking about all of this trauma, and that…” Harington paused for a brief moment. “That’s interesting,” he coyly emphasized.
“So I think where we leave him at the end of the show, there’s always this feeling of like… I think we wanted some kind of little smile that things are okay. He’s not okay,” he said.
So, yes, it’s not the official announcement fans might’ve been expecting, but it offers a glimpse into Harington’s headspace on the topic of Jon Snow’s life after the main story line.

Kit Harington made an appearance at the Game of Thrones convention in L.A. where he was inevitably asked about the Jon Snow sequel series that was announced earlier this year.
Although Harington couldn’t say much about the development of the show, he did talk about how Jon Snow ended in the series and what could be happening to him after his character killed Daenerys.
“I think if you asked him, he would’ve felt he got off lightly,” Harington said during the panel at the convention Sunday night, according to Entertainment Weekly. “At the end of the show when we find him in that cell, he’s preparing to be beheaded and he wants to be. He’s done. The fact he goes to the Wall is the greatest gift and also the greatest curse.”
Harington continued, “He’s gotta go back up to the place with all this history and live out his life thinking about how he killed Dany, and live out his life thinking about Ygritte dying in his arms, and live out his life thinking about how he hung Olly, and live out his life thinking about all of this trauma, and that, that’s interesting.”
Without directly talking about the Jon Snow spinoff, Harington mentioned what state of mind his character was in at the end of Game of Thrones and indirectly teased the spinoff series.
“So I think where we leave him at the end of the show, there’s always this feeling of like… I think we wanted some kind of little smile that things are OK. He’s not OK,” he added.
Earlier this year George R.R. Martin revealed that it was Harington that came up with the idea of continuing Snow’s storyline in a new series.
“Yes, it was Kit Harrington (sic) who brought the idea to us,” Martin wrote in his blog back in June of this year. “I cannot tell you the names of the writers/ showrunners, since that has not been cleared for release yet… but Kit brought them in too, his own team, and they are terrific.”
Martin also let loose that SNOW is the working title of the spinoff series. [Source]
Revisit the emotional and literal death-defying journey of Jon Snow.
The onetime ‘Game of Thrones’ star — who isn’t quite caught up on ‘House of the Dragon’ — is embracing his dark side to portray a ruthless arms dealer in the upcoming Rod Blackhurst film: “It’s fun playing a baddie.”
Kit Harington is ready to get out of his comfort zone.
After spending eight years as fan-favorite character Jon Snow on cultural phenomenon Game of Thrones, Harington is taking on a new type of role in director Rod Blackhurst’s Blood for Dust. In the action-thriller, the Eternals actor will play the film’s antagonist Ricky, an illegal weapons dealer with violent tendencies.
“I’m playing a pretty gnarly dude,” Harington tells The Hollywood Reporter about his character. “It’s not necessarily a part that I would generally get offered, and that’s quite interesting to me.”
Set to begin production in late-November, Blood for Dust follows former friends Cliff (Scoot McNairy) and Ricky, who reconnect one fateful day. In an attempt to make some quick cash, Cliff gets wrapped up in one of Ricky’s dangerous business schemes, including cross-state drug and weapons deliveries for John (Josh Lucas), a mid-level American cartel boss. When Ricky turns a simple exchange into a bloodbath to eliminate the competition, Cliff realizes his harsh new reality, in which he must fight just to stay alive.
“At the moment, and for the last couple of years, I’m trying to — and that’s another reason why I wanted to play this role — take roles that I’m a bit scared about doing,” says Harington. “It’s fun playing a baddie, I think. I spent a long time playing the epitome of a good, honest human, trying to do the right thing that everyone’s rooting for. And maybe this is a reaction to the length of time I was doing that.”
After living at the center of the Thrones zeitgeist for the show’s eight season-run, Harington says he’s drawn to the nature of independent films these days.
“It is a medium that more and more fits my life at the moment,” he says. “Having a young son, having done a TV show for a long time, the opportunity to go and play interesting, odd characters for a couple of months, here and there, is appealing to me.”

Kit Harington will be making an appearance at the PopCon Middle East and GameExpo in Dubai, which takes place from November 10 to 13 at Dubai Expo City.
It has not been confirmed if Harington will join any panel discussions during the pop culture event, but fans will have the opportunity for meet-and-greets with the Game of Thrones star.
Later this year, Harington is slated to star in Blood for Dust alongside Scoot McNairy and Josh Lucas. In the thriller, which is set to start filming next month, he plays Ricky, an arms dealer who reunites with old friend and colleague Cliff (McNairy), who is a down-on-his-luck travelling salesman.
In June, Harington made headlines for expressing his interest in returning to the role that made him a household name, in a spin-off series to Game of Thrones, unofficially titled Snow. Despite a report from The Hollywood Reporter stating that the sequel was in “early development,” it has not been confirmed that the show will come to fruition.
It seems unlikely that Harington will be able to divulge any details about the George RR Martin-inspired series, however his appearance at the first PopConME is a positive sign for fans of the Game of Thrones universe. [Source]

Magnet Releasing, the genre arm of Magnolia Pictures, has acquired North American rights to Baby Ruby, the TIFF thriller starring Noémie Merlant (Portrait Of A Lady On Fire) and Kit Harington (Game Of Thrones).
The movie, which marks the feature directorial debut of playwright Bess Wohl (Grand Horizons), tells the story of Jo (Merlant), a successful, French lifestyle entrepreneur who is happily pregnant, awaiting the arrival of her first child. But soon after Jo welcomes baby Ruby home, something starts to feel off– even though she’s assured it’s all perfectly normal. As she fights to protect herself and her baby, she is plunged into a waking fever dream where everyone is a threat and nothing is what it seems.
The deal was negotiated by Magnolia EVP Dori Begley and SVP of Acquisitions John Von Thaden, with Glen Basner at FilmNation Entertainment. Magnet plans to release the film next year.
A Page Fifty-Four Pictures and Point Productions feature, producers are Alex Saks, Lauren Beveridge, Brett Beveridge, and Jeffrey Penman. In addition to Merlant and Harington, cast includes Meredith Hagner and Jayne Atkinson. Script comes from Wohl.
“Bess Wohl shows how terrifying the pursuit of a ‘perfect life’ can be,” said Magnolia President Eamonn Bowles. “Noémie Merlant convincingly inhabits the role of a woman who has it all.”
“I am tremendously proud that Baby Ruby has found a home with Magnet and can’t wait for audiences to discover and experience this emotional, raw, and mind-bending time in the life of a young couple,” said director-writer Bess Wohl.
Upcoming Magnet releases include Carlota Pereda’s Sundance Midnight title Piggy and Mali Elfman’s Tribeca supernatural road movie Next Exit. [Source]
